Viking Myths, legends and History
[...]As a homeschool parent I’m always looking for new ways to reference history. To find easy to follow and understand collection of books is wonderful. The info is well rounded and helps my children understand and want to explore. Being give a well rounded outlook into history is much preferred to the single focal point taught in traditional schools. This allowed our children to understand vikings and how 5hey moved around place to place.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

enjoyable read for both history enthusiasts and mythology lovers
[...]The book is divided into two manuscripts: one focusing on Viking myths and legends, and the other on the impact of Vikings in England. From creation myths and the tales of gods and mythical creatures to the real historical events of Viking raids and settlements, this book provides a comprehensive look at the fascinating world of the Norsemen.I found this book to be thoroughly engaging and informative. The author’s meticulous research and accessible writing style make it a joy to read. The first part’s exploration of myths and legends brings the stories to life, while the second part offers a detailed history of the Vikings in England, including notable figures like Ragnar Lodbrok and Leif Erikson. It’s a well-rounded and enjoyable read for both history enthusiasts and mythology lovers.I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Great resource for history buffs
[...]I love mythology but I’ve only gone deep into Greek and Roman mythology during my elementary and middle school years. Then I majored in English in college, and my interest swerved over to the mythology of the Norseman and Vikings, who were constantly invading the British Isles centuries ago and very important to the history of England. This rowdy lot were just as blood thirsty as the Romans which was no surprise. And their mythology and tales of yore are just as entertaining. These books would be such a welcome gift for anyone who loves all of those Marvel characters who have stories older than the 20th century.Part Two: Vikings in England. Here are all of those fellows I read about in my college English history classes. Very good refresher as I was quite overwhelmed by those two college classes I had to take when I was 19 years old!I love history so I found these two volumes helpful and full of information. I might have avoided them when I was younger, but as an adult with an interest in the history of Northern Europe, I highly recommend these two volumes.

A Fantastic Introduction to the History and Beliefs of the Vikings!
[...]This collection has been a wonderful read. The author is clearly knowledgeable on the subject (or if this is a group effort, there is at least one expert involved). It is true that much of what we know of Viking history and lore is influenced by written documentations from Christians during a time in which the church was making an effort to stamp out “heathen” practices. This very likely has skewed the selections of what has been written down accurately, what was “erased”, and what was written for the benefit of the church. The author of the reviewed collection does acknowledge this multiple times and does a great job of doing their best to glean what is most likely accurate, while also relating the mythologies and histories in the limited form(s) that we have them. The material is by no means exhaustive – that would be a very thick book, indeed! At times, it did seem like the author struggled to choose just which topics, histories, and myths to dive into or even approach, as there is so much to work with, but they did very well and gave us a great sampling.Overall, I would highly recommend this read to anyone with an interest in the history of Vikings and the people of Northern Europe.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
