The time has come! Book seven in the best-selling Dungeon Crawler Carl series is here!
They call it Faction Wars.
The ninth floor.
Nine armies, each led by rich and powerful aliens from across the galaxy. Each team has one objective: to capture and hold the castle at the very center of the battlefield. Strategy, alliances, pitched battles, and, of course, betrayal … It all makes for great fun and even greater television.
After all, none of these powerful aliens really die when they’re playing war.
Except this time. This time, winner takes all. Those who fall, stay in the ground.
As the AI continues its rapid decline, Carl and company take advantage of the chaos. For the first time ever, the crawlers are fighting back. They are now one of the nine teams. And this season, there’s a tenth army on the playing field. The NPCs, who are normally used as nothing but cannon fodder, have become fully self-aware and formed a team of their own.
For Donut and Katia, the stakes are even higher. Only one of them will be allowed to leave this level.
If they all want to survive, they’re going to need a little help from a veteran or two.
This is it.
This is what they’ve been fighting toward.
This is war.
This inevitable ruin.

Great book, can’t wait for the next one in the series!

It is summarily frustrating how something so absurd be so funny, poignant, satirical and unputdownable at the same time. Each book in this series has helped me get over a reading block at different points in my life. I’d highly recommend it to any fantasy fan.

As someone with ADHD, reading a book front-to-back can be a grind but this book is so engaging. If I can read through a 700-page book, so can you. It’s fast-paced action with (sometimes crude) humour, great characters and plot, and I honestly could not be more happy with this buy. It’s so good that I would opt to read this book over watching TV.If you’re interested, this whole series is worth getting into. Matt Dinniman is consistent with his writing style and quality throughout the series. He has this skill of preventing the plot from becoming repetitive or cliché, and knowing how to provide enough character development without inundating you information.Alright, that’s enough from me. Can’t speak highly enough about this book and the series. Get it.

Toda la saga es genial. Mucha acción, intriga, planes delirantes y finales inesperados. Puras emociones fuertes de principio a fin.

G-ddammit Donut!
[...]So if you are already on book 7 then you know this series already. It’s rare when a book series gets better and better. And when I say better, it grows in scope, pathos, drama, and story. While some of the first few books focus more on the comedy and had a lot of drama in the background, Matt somehow flips the script in the later books and creates drama rich stories with a lot of comedy interspersed in the narrative. While this might not have the “Hard sci-fi” moniker of a classic space opera like The Expanse books or Children of Time series, it still somehow seems to be just as large in scope than the premise has any right to be. The characters are nuanced and fully fleshed out and you are rooting for all the “crawlers” and even some of the aliens. If you are not adverse to audiobooks, I recommend this as the narrator is one of the greatest narrators I have ever had the pleasure to listen to as he understand the personality of all the characters and bring them alive and in your ear. While there is a possibility of a TV series at one point, the audiobooks will be the closest you can get to that right now. But if not, then you will still get great pleasure in reading the adventures of a man in boxers and his cat create havoc and save as many lives as they can.

best book so far!
[...]I let this one sit a bit so I could be sure recency bias wasn’t coloring my review. I read in 2 days right at release what took Mr Dinniman nearly a year to write. And it was worth it. This was his most emotionally evolved, thought provoking book yet. Characterization and character motivations took center stage and provided some tearjerking moments as well as absolute jaw droppers. The implications and set ups for future books were just as well done and satisfying to read and start wondering about as were the previous 6 books of build up to this one. Chekovs assorted armoire of tropes were fired, called back, and revived to create one of the best payoffs in fiction not just litrpg. I am so happy I found these books and can’t wait to read more. Once I have the money I’m resubbing to patreon. 11/10 will obnoxiously rec to everyone

He’s upped the chaos factor…
[...]And I’m here for it. These books are incredible. Mr Dinniman continues to give us fast paced, comedic, absolute chaos. Really good job expanding the world (universe?) building in this one. Thoroughly enjoyable!!!

Another amazing story
[...]As with book 5, this book nails its mid-series climax. It simultaneously raises the stakes for itself and sets higher stakes for the future. The character work is extremely well done and pays off a lot of previous moments. The plotting and action are great as well, matching the highs of the series. Themes are maintained and played with, setting up but not yet answering many big questions. Finally, the world building is super interesting. It’s much more noticeable on reread, but this story is probably the one that first gave me a feeling for how the non-dungeon parts of this world operate. It reframes a lot of the previous books events with non-dungeon, non-Borant characters.Overall, a great book.

A wild ride
[...]Okay folks, here’s a really fun book, but you’re going to want to read (or listen to) the first six previous books first. There is so much going on that, while this volume does an excellent job of introducing characters and describing scenarios well enough to get you situated, you’re just not going to get the full impact without living through the chaos that brought us to this point. Is this a toss-off trivial adventure novel that you’ll have trouble justifying to your book club? Yes. Is it overwhelmingly filled with interesting characters you’re glad to know? Also yes. Packed with crafty plot puzzles, rude jokes, betrayal and support, I can’t say there’s something for everyone here, but there sure is a lot that was just right for me.Give it a try.

The Beauty of it All
[...]Such a fantastic read. Every book he raises the stakes and keeps us engaged and elevates the story to heights we couldn’t fathom. He for sure has a corkboard with plot strings dangling like an Iron Tangle, but he unfailingly threads them together. The only downside I have is that I have to wait for Book 8.

Terrific series!
[...]Count me in ax a member of the Princess Posse! As a huge fan of fantasy and sci-fi, this series hits all the marks – clever, inventive, funny. Great characters and character development. Smartly plotted, with elements introduced and then followed up on. Great twists that keep you guessing. Original and creative. I binged-read the first 7 (!) and am awaiting number 8!

What a great story
[...]Honestly these books just keep getting better. They make me think back to previous titles in the series and it’s amazing to truly watch character evolution happen without noticing it. It feels like watching your nephews grow up, you know it’s happening but unless you don’t see them for a month you won’t notice it. The character growth is so fitting, and human it’s easy to forget for much has changed. But the growth is there and it’s beautiful because it just works so well. And my goodness, the universe just works. It is such a wild but fun and palpable environment that never feels off or half baked. Thanks Matt, it’s a joy to read your creations
