When Peter and his fiery Greek wife, Alex, trade the rainy skies of England for a sunlit village in Greece, they believe they’ve found paradise. But their dream life turns into a nightmare.
Caught in a whirlwind of legal battles, village gossip, and cultural clashes, Peter and Alex must navigate the absurdities of Greek bureaucracy, rebuild their lives, and face the ultimate question: will they seek revenge or choose forgiveness?
With laugh-out-loud humour, heartwarming resilience, and a love story at its core, A Parthenon Paradox is a memoir about finding hope in the rubble, embracing life’s imperfections, and discovering that even in the darkest moments, there’s room for laughter and love. A tale of resilience, redemption, and the unyielding charm of Greece.

[It’s] more than memoir; it is a journey into cultural discovery and an adventure about taking risks. The portrayal of Greek life and love has left me looking forward to more works in this series to find out where life takes Alex and Peter next.

I loved this book. Peter’s words got into my mind and my heart.
This was the book Peter HAD to write. A few days after the launch party for A Parthenon in Pefki, the village was hit by a storm of biblical proportions. The damage was unbelievable, and Peter and Alex feared they had lost their beautiful home. This is a story of wickedness, pure generosity, and love. But it’s not a fairytale. (Although a wicked witch and some good fairies are involved). It’s all unbelievably true. Battling Greek bureaucracy is not for the faint-hearted, and Alex and Peter have a real fight on their hands. But through everything, their humor, faith, and above all, their love for each other shines out like a beacon. And the sense of community and their love for their Greek village is real. I loved this book. Really, really, loved it. Peter’s words got into my mind and my heart. It’s a very powerful book, and is a book that will stay with me for a long time. I honestly think this is the best thing Peter has written.
