Nicely written book of historical facts. It certainly has a wide range of stories. Recommended for history and trivia buffs.

I loved reading this book. I like history, and some historical events, like WWII, I can read about forever as my parents lived through it and told me a lot of stories about that time. However, the great thing about his book is that it tells stories I’ve never seen or heard about before. It is really enriching when you like learning more about the great moments in our history. Also wonderful to see that reality can sometimes change things in a day, like the fall of the Syrian regime just a couple of weeks ago, while reading about the chemical weapons it used. The quizzes are fun, I love to test myself, and I learned a lot along the way. Well done.

This book brings to light stories that are needed for future generation to learn what the world Wars and Cold war was all about. This knowledge helps to learn things like there were people within Germany who were not happy with Hitlers ambitions and wickedness. The german Carpenter decided single handedly to kill Hitler and many other failed attempts that the book highlights. It is interesting to know that one man Onoda continue to fight the war even when it ended. A well recommended book.

[...]I enjoyed reading this book about lesser known tales from the world wars and other conflicts. I didn’t know many of these interesting facts. I liked the quizzes also!

So good!
[...]These stories blow my mind… especially the one about the Japanese military man who continued to fight WWII, unable to accept the end of the war. I think if classroom history textsbooks were written like this, not only would education be more enjoyable, but the facts would ‘stick’ more. Well done!

Well-written
[...]Some of the most bizarre and intriguing stories about WWII, the Spanish Civil War, the Watergate Scandal, the plots against Fidel Castro, the Cold War, and more. Although the narratives are well-written, they contain disturbing descriptions of suffering, cruelty, and death. So, I would not recommend it to children under 12-14 or children sensitive to these topics.

A truly amazing depiction of history!
[...]Well, the history enlightenment was cool for sure. Some of the facts of refugees and death was downright frightening. The stories shed a lot of light on how ruthless many leaders have been through the years. How about the ‘War on Emus’ in Australia? That was crazy. The species was not much of a match for even the military. I thought a great touch to the book was the highlighting of critical points to the chapter. The way quizzes were added in certain parts of the book were an excellent added feature.Wow, from Cuba to the Congo to the Cold War, and even Iceland’s involvement in WWII were very interesting parts of the book. Of course, there were heroes too. Anyway, lots of great history to read.
