    This book has a ton of exercise and it’s a good book to have when you are spiraling! As someone who can remember everything I ever did that made me feel embarrassed, my favorite exercise was revisiting pas events while making some kind comments to yourself. I think we sometimes carry things with us in a very harmful was and it can be hard to change your mindset. So doing these exercises to learn to be kinder to yourself is definitely needed!

I love how it combines insights, stories and ideas with loads of practical activities and prompts to work with various aspects of shadow selves. Lots of ways to look at and handle negative behaviour. Very welcome compared to the simple theory books I have seen on the subject. The introduction demystifies shadow selves and shadow work nicely and goes on to be very thorough – discussing points clearly without labouring anything too much. In general, it’s both really comprehensive and compassionate, and I enjoyed the creative approach to exercises and the motivational thoughts to keep up momentum.
