good read, lots of history to adventure thru
Mesopotamian Civilizations and Empires: An Enthralling Journey Through Sumer, Akkad, Babylon, and Assyria is a good resource of Mesopotamian history. The book is easy to read and is well written. The history and mythology are broken into 4 books. The history is very interesting. The artwork is a nice touch. I enjoyed the attention to detail but at a level that anyone could read. Recommended for anyone wanting to learn about interesting stories of Mesopotamian history.

    Incredible book bundle
These are an incredible book bundle for us ancient history nerds. Information heavy. Very clear and easy to read. I love reading about history, so this was fun and interesting reads. These are histories that aren’t typically spotlighted so I didn’t know too much about each of these empires.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

    Interesting and very informative
The Mesopotamian Civilizations and Empires is not an area of history I had really studied in my depth previously. I have recently become more aware of the Assyrians. This series of books has been a great starting point to getting to know the Mesopotamian history. I’m not sure I would at this time choose to delve deeper into these civilisations but it this book has given me wonderful new knowledge on people I new very little about.

    Not your normal textbook
I did not like that this book is simply a collection of facts & figures. There is no text to read & then the answer the questions in a multiple choice format.Apparently, lots of folks are good with this format of “here are the answers,” now you figure out the correct response. I admit my prejudice since I never studied this time period except for brief study in the biblical era. I do not recommend this book except as a study guide for students of Mesopotamia.

    This is huge
Enthralling History has bundled four prevous publications on the rise and fall of ancient Mesopotamian empires. The first volume delves into the Sumerians, recognized for innovations in agriculture, urban development, and written language. It covers the Ubaid period, early settlements, and the evolution into cities during the Uruk period. The Sumerians’ contributions to technology and governance mark them as the world’s first true civilization. The second volume highlights the Akkadian Empire, the world’s first empire, linking it to later powers like Assyria and Babylon. The third focuses on the brutal history of the Babylonian Empire, providing vivid accounts of conquest and governance. Finally, the Assyrian Empire’s rise, marked by military might and architectural achievements, is discussed in the fourth volume, shedding light on its rapid fall but lasting influence on later empires. Each volume includes comprehensive references for further research. If you are interested in these histories, this is an excellent selection.

    Many stories of several empires
The region that is now Iraq has been the place of civilizations and empires for many thousands of years. This set of 4 books runs through the many city states that became nations that became empires. Akkad, Sumer, Babylon, and Assyria. At 585 pages, it is thorough, albeit in spots redundant. The rise and fal of cities, the leaders, the wars, the gods and religion, and the cultures that were centered on the Euphrates river.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
