To see our girl Izidora’s growth (both physically AND mentally) thru the series from being abused since she was a child, guarded and locked away in a cave to a strong, bad ass fighter who has taken back control of her life has made me so happy. Cried a lot of happy tears to see Izidora confront her trauma, even when she was feeling weakened by life knocking her down. She kept fighting and pushing. “I was an insidious bloom, and it was time to show him my thorns” 🖤🖤Oh and not to mention I was VERY HAPPY with how the story ended for our side characters (mainly Liliana, Endre & Drazen).The spice was 🥵🔥, the overall story was engaging and kept me waiting everytime I finished a book to get the next one.If you like books about: fated mates, overcoming trauma, female rage/revenge, magic and DRAGONS, you should read this series if you haven’t! Constantly had me on the edge of my seat, pacing the room, yelling at my book when things got crazy 😂

[...]POTENTIAL SPOILERS INCOMING!!!First book was phenomenal, but as the series went on, it was just…meh. I think my biggest problem is that Izidora embraced the dark emotions she had, and while that can be empowering, it can also be corrupting. I think Izidora and Ruslan are both corrupted, and yet they both uphold values that seem antithetical to their dark natures. It just feels like these characters are trying to occupy a morally grey area (which is totally fine!), but their actions don’t always line up with these grey ethics. Like throughout the whooooole series, Izidora is very preoccupied with being an “insidious bloom,” and eventually gives in to her dark emotions in order to fuel her magic. You would think, then, that she’d be a little more…evil? But she isn’t. She wants to open a center to help trauma victims, and has a huge soft spot for animals. At the end, she wants peace, and new life experiences. Where’s the darkness, now? That is a hero’s ending, not a morally grey character’s ending. I dunno, it just seems wrong when Izidora and Ruslan take sick pleasure in causing pain to the males who abused Izidora, as well as Kazimir. I guess I expected morally grey characters to…I dunno, be crazed about power, or something?? Or plan to take over other continents?And then just a side note, but all the spicy scenes throughout the series are pretty tame, and they do become quite repetitive.
