Good as inspiration, light on instruction.
[...]The good: It’s simply adorable for young artists or artists who want tips on drawing fashions for young characters (why I was interested in this book). There are many different types of fashions presented from beachwear to western to red carpet gowns. There are good tips for the different art mediums that you might be using in your designs scattered throughout the book. The bad: The tips seem to be rather broad (ex. “Choose soft plaids and familiar shorts for comfort and style.”) accompanied by a couple of line drawings (usually 3) and then the finished look. In other words while there are some good hints and tips and eye candy to use as inspiration, any artist that is stuck as to “How do they actually get from a concept to the final product? I need tips on how to create those collars or those waists or those glasses. I never get that transparent look quite right, how’d they do that?” — well you likely won’t find that here. There are tips but they’re random and sporadic and while the ones that are here are, in fact, very useful it leaves this book feeling incomplete that so many of the important details for each design are not included.Overall a good book for inspiration but if you’re looking for in depth step-by-step fashion character design tips (even keeping in mind that this is targeted at younger artists / or younger characters) this isn’t the book for you. If you’re looking for more of an eye candy type of a book with good general tips and a little extra inspiration, and don’t need all of the extra little details then this is perfect for you.* Disclaimer: I received this book at no cost in order to review it. I offered no guarantee of a positive review, though I only request books I think I’ll like so as not to waste my time.

It’s Okay
[...]I’m an artist, and so I always enjoy seeing new how-to-draw books. As far as drawing books go, I felt that Fashion Drawing Studio had some good things about it, and some just OK things too.As far as clothing style goes, this book covers everything. They have gothic, steam punk, classic, hard rock, you name it. There is great advice and tips on every style. The author writes about how to mix and match clothing to achieve the different looks. She even gives a couple of pointers on how to draw a figure and some bits on the history of fashion. The drawings were just okay. I didn’t feel like they gave a great representation of this artistic genre. There were some illustrations that had obviously been enhanced on the computer, but that step had not been included in the instructions. The good thing about the artwork is that the illustrators consistently showed the gradual steps they used to build their drawing. There were a lot of things about this book that were helpful for a young artist. Much of the text was worthwhile to read, and the process behind the illustrations was correct and useful. Some of the artwork was really nice, but most of it was just okay.I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Fashion Fun for Intermediate Artists
[...]Beginning with a page of basic drawing instructions, this book assumes that the reader already has some skills in sketching figures. One more page explaining fashion and giving some pointers for drawing rounds out the introduction. From there, six different categories of styles include about a dozen individual outfits. Each of those has three to five different sketches, showing the reader how to move from a basic body sketch to a full-color drawing of the model wearing that outfit. Also included with each is information about that particular style and tips on how to personalize the look. The clothes are spunky, the poses are fun, and all types of girls are represented, from sporty to studious to frilly. A couple of random guys show up in the skater section, but they seem to fit right in.I think my budding artist will enjoy trying out these sketches, and will be inspired to branch out with some original creations after reading all the advice scattered throughout the pages of this book.**I received an ARC of this ebook through netgalley.com in exchange for my honest review.

ok if you are looking for a variety of styles
[...]It depends upon what type of illustration you like. I thought one set was great and one was ok. I did not like all of the styles and was dissappointed. Some of the body positions looked impossible. I gave it to my granddaughter.

Fun Book!
[...]The illustrations are phenomenal, and I love the variety of styles, particularly the skateboarder clothes. The step by step illustrations are easy to follow and helpful.
