The SM6HD006 Heavy-Duty drill-base mount with 8” multi-angle arm is designed for mounting midsize tablets to a wall or other surface (including car dashboards). it is compatible with midsize (7” or 8” screen size) tablets, including iPad mini, Galaxy Tab s 8.4, Galaxy Note 8.0, Galaxy Tab E 8.0, Galaxy Tab 4 or 3 7.0 and 8.0, Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4, and Google Nexus 7. It also holds phones up to 6.75” tall (8” screen size), including iPhone XS Max, iPhone XS, iPhone XR, iPhone X, iPhone 8 and 8 PLUS, iPhone 7 and 7 PLUS, Samsung Galaxy S10, S9, S8, S7 edge, and S7, Galaxy Note 9, Note 8, and Note 5, LG G6, G5, and G4, Nexus 6 and Nexus 5, Motorola Moto G and Moto X. This mount includes Arkon’s Slim-Grip Ultra universal smartphone and midsize tablet holder and heavy-duty aluminum mount with 8” multi-angle arm and 4-hole AMPS Drill base. This sturdy mount features three adjustment knobs at 2.5” Intervals on the mount arm for easy positioning. Two additional 180° adjustment points at the top and bottom of the mount provide additional flexibility. The mount base attaches with screws. The 4-hole AMPS pattern consists of four holes located in a rectangular pattern spaced at 30.17mm x 38.05mm (measured as the center-to-center distance between holes). The top and bottom adjustable-leg design of the Slim-Grip Ultra holder helps keep any side buttons and ports unobstructed, making it ideal for use with the side-accessible buttons on the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge or note Edge. The patented spring-loaded holder accommodates devices with skins and ruggedization cases. Included with the holder are 8 support legs (4 short and 4 longer versions) that can be customized based on device size. For most devices, The best mount holder configuration is to attach 2 short support legs on top and the 2 long support legs on the bottom of the holder. For larger devices, use all 4 long support legs. For smaller devices, use all 4 short support legs.

I have had this in my car for a while now, and absolutely love it. It works for both phones and tablets, and is adjustable as needed (angle/portrait/landscape etc). Only issue is that the little rubber grommets can pop off fairly easily, and if you’re not at least a little bit careful removing your phone, the arms can then get lost.

It is a great phone holder but…
[...]Over all I like this phone holder. It does what it was built for. The only draw back is I have to tighten the screw behind the phone mount about twice a month. I live on a rough desert dirt road and every this just comes loose. Maybe some thread lock will do the trick.

[...]I bought this mount to hold a kindle fire 7″ tablet I’m using as a touch screen remote for home automation. It is very sturdy and well made. The only part I’m not crazy about is the actual cradle. It is spring loaded which is fine however the little gripper fingers are ridiculously long for no apparent reason. I plan to cut them down so they don’t stick out much past the screen. I would’ve preferred the arm to be smooth but that’s just an aesthetic thing. If you want something solid and highly adjustable I’d have no problem recommending this mount. Shorter grippers would’ve earned this mount 5 stars from me.

Broken legs
[...]Long support legs broke after about 6 weeks. Used the product to hold my Amazon Fire tablet (7″). Probably removed the tablet from the holder about 4-6 times to charge the tablet. One leg broke, then a week later the other leg broke. I am now reaching out to Akron for replacement legs. Stay tuned for update. thanks

It didn’t come with a center console and I used this when i reconstructed the center console. I use it driving everyday and it stands up to the rigors of my clumsy dog getting in and out of the car. Well, worth it.
