[...]Pretty cool item. It is simple to use and has a couple different features that all work properly. I was disappointed to find out that the manufacturer and I have differing opinions on what is “instant”. When smoking or roasting a low fire, you don’t want to keep the smoker lid open to lose heat so quick temp reads are needed. Sadly this unit takes several seconds to reach temp. I use it, I like it, I would recommend it for the price…..it’s just not instant.

It held up with heavy use for over 4 years, and I’d recommend it for anyone who’s looking for that convenience and ease of use.About a week ago, it started malfunctioning, giving ‘LLLL’ on any reading, even food under the broiler. I recalled that this was advertised with a ‘LIFETIME GUARANTEE’, and decided to reach out to Alpha Grillers directly to inquire on my options. They promptly responded very helpfully, saying with the right info from me they would just replace it. The replacement arrived just a couple days later.I look forward to enjoying the replacement for yet more years to come!
