At last year’s MoT, the headlights had to be polished by the garage to achieve a pass. Twelve months on, the lenses look hazy again. Took my time with the kit and achieved a fantastic result – almost like new. Plenty of water with the final abrasive pad before applying the clearcoat after drying thoroughly. This final step transforms the lens to near new brilliance. Very impressed and highly recommended!

The headlights on my 11 year old CRV were so badly fogged they barely lit up the road at night. After pricing out new headlights ($900 each!) I decided to try a headlight clearing kit. I chose this one based on the good reviews, and I was not disappointed. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, and there were enough sanding discs for the larger headlights on my vehicle. I used up all the sanding discs and was very thorough in the sanding process because the fogging was pretty deep and I wanted to ensure good results. It probably took me about an hour start to finish. I should of taken before and after photos, because the results are amazing, the headlights look brand new! I’m jazzed for my next nighttime drive because I’ll actually be able to see the road!

Works well, takes work
[...]A good all in one solution. The pure liquid “ceramic” alternatives won’t buff off impurities and scratches like this one will. You need a power drill to attach the sanding disk to and then can get to work with 500 grit, then 800 then 3000 sanding followed by the chemical topical treatment. It’s important to do a good job protecting surrounding paint and trim with the wisely included masking tape. This treatment took care of haziness on the headlights for me though it’s a careful and difficult job to get it perfectly clear. I tried my best and still had some residual swirl marks from the 500 grit sanding first step that I could have really worked further on to make perfect but I stopped and called it good enough and a 80% improvement.

Easier job than I expected; surprisingly good results
[...]Overall this is a good product. It wasn’t as hard a job as I thought it would be. Sanding just requires patience, not a lot of pressure with an electric drill. The results look surprisingly good.I was working on a 2003 Toyota Matrix. You can imagine how yellowed and hazy those headlight lenses were on this old car with over 200,000 miles on it. The sanding removes the haze but not all the scratches that accumulate over the years. But the haze is the problem because that diffuses the light away from the road.I give the product a 4 instead of 5 because it includes only 1 3000 grit refining disc. It would be better with 2, one for each headlight. After use on one headlight the 3000 grit sanding surface was worn away all around the edge. After use on the second light, that light was hazier than the first. The haziness cleared up with the clear coat application, but I would have felt better if there was a fresh 3000 grit available. But the lenses don’t diffuse the light anymore as can be seen in the picture of the headlights shining on my garage door. Yes! More light to the front of the car and on the road.Follow the directions. They are very precise. Wear a dust mask! There is lots of plastic dust created when sanding which is to be expected. As instructed wipe the dust off the lens frequently during sanding, or you’ll get burned yellow plastic spots as the dust accumulates. Then you have to sand those out too. Also, the provided masking tape to put around the lenses is 1″ wide. Definitely put 2″ width of tape around each light. Don’t believe you are going to control your drill well enough not to accidentally go over the edge of the lens. It can grab while sanding, especially on odd curves or if you apply too much pressure. Just to cover detail, I used a 20v Bauer cordless electric drill on the higher speed setting, and torque set at 13 though that probably could have been lower. I consider that Bauer to be a light-duty drill; it is certainly light weight.

Deserves 6 stars !
[...]The difference in my headlights is absolutely incredible. It would have been $150+ to replace the badly oxidized units. Driving at night was actually dangerous with this new to me 2007 model car. I figured for $15 this kit was worth a try first. My headlights now look brand new. Was very easy to do also. Plenty of videos online if you need visual guidance. Do not hesitate at all in your purchase decision. Everything you need is there (minus the drill of course) but including the sealant is the real value. You must apply UV protection after removing all the oxidation for the job to be complete. Beyond happy with my purchase and the work applied. With my judicious use of the sanding pads and my appropriate application of water, I can do another vehicle or 2 with this kit. Just need to get additional sealant wipes.

Brought my highlights to almost new condition
[...]This product works wonders if you take your time and follow the directions. The product removed 19 years of yellowish oxidation and heavy cloudiness off my headlights and made them look almost new again. I had tried a different product last month and all it did was made a mess and wasted and hour of my time. I was just about ready to order replacement headlights at $150 but I decided to give 3m headlight restore kits a try, and I am glad I did, just take a look at the picture I posted, it looks almost new again. This is a great product, just make sure you use a drill and don’t try to do hand sanding.

Easy to use, Great results
[...]I recently tried the 3M Ultra Headlight Restoration Kit, and I have to say, I’m really happy with how it turned out. The instructions were easy to follow. The kit comes with everything you need to get the job done, except a drill. One thing I really liked was the UV-resistant clear coat wipes that come with the kit. They help keep my headlights from turning yellow again, which I’ve had happen before after a restoration. After using this kit, my headlights are way clearer and brighter. Overall, it’s a solid product that’s pretty easy to use, and it made a noticeable difference. Definitely recommend it if you’re looking to refresh your headlights!
