FROM THE MULTI-MILLION BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF HOLY ISLAND
Christmas can be deadly…
After a long year of crime-fighting, DCI Ryan and his team are looking forward to a peaceful Christmas filled with festive treats – including the occasional turkey stottie, or three. To celebrate a job well done, the entire team are treated to a party at beautiful Belsay Hall, a spectacular country estate on the outskirts of the city. But, when their dinner is interrupted by the untimely arrival of a dead body, they’re reminded that crime never sleeps – and nor do the secrets within the walls of Belsay.
It’s time to find out who’s been naughty or nice…
Murder and mystery are peppered with romance and humour in this fast-paced crime whodunnit, set amidst the spectacular Northumbrian landscape.

As always LJ Ross grabs the reader and pulls them into the plot! A little disappointed that Samantha wasn’t featured except by name; as the personal stories of the characters matter as well as the central murder.Just a couple of little niggles that I feel should be mentioned. Back in Black is an album by AC/DC. I believe the album to which Ross was referring was Back to Black by the wonderfully talented Amy Winehouse. The child born to Iris fathered by Edgerton in1890 was illegitimate and therefore cannot inherit a title. Research is the key.

Love, laughter and an absolutely amazing team of Detectives headed up by an incredible man, who is loving, a wonderful husband, father, who is also very clever and drop dead gorgeous. Such an intense case of which was no match for DCI Ryan and his team. What a jaw dropping ending which of course leaves us all in suspense until the next book. Please don’t keep us waiting too long 🫶❤️

Could not put it down. Love this series of books, a handsome, personable leading man with a heart and a good back story. Cannot wait for the next one.

Another excellent book in this series. It’s been a while since the last book and I couldn’t wait to meet up with all the characters again.its like meeting up with old friends. I loved the storyline and was hooked from the first page. Unfortunately for me I’m a fast reader and read this book in less than 24hrs. I was so engrossed in the storyline that I couldn’t put it down. Well done L J Ross on another great book

Love the DCI Ryan books which you just can’t put down. This one was no exception with a brilliant storyline. Also like the continuing updates on the lives of the main characters, and the familiarity that brings. If you are wondering whether to read, this book then please do: you will not regret it. Can’t wait for the next one to be published.

BO-RING
[...]I found this book extremely boring. Other than the prologue there was nothing much to keep my attention. The side story murder with Jack and Melanie went absolutely nowhere. Other than them spending time and getting to know each other again, it was a waste of time. I do like this series, just thought this book was lame. I do LOVE Frank!

Dogs catch the killer
[...]Ryan and his crew celebrating Christmas dinner and Belsay Hall get an unexpected entree. Then the trail gets more twisted as it goes on.As usual these books are spellbinding. Great author Great reveal. ENJOY! I did

Not another cliffhanger
[...]I am not a fan of cliffhangers. LJ Ross is a good, entertaining author. She does not need to keep us hanging again and again. It just gets old and annoying.

They just get better and better
[...]The stories are great but the magic lies in the characters. The personal interplay alone makes you cone back for more.

LJ Ross’s books always seem too short
[...]Beloved characters investigating intriguing new murder plots. This plot was especially interesting and historically based. Romance and pending murder mysteries included. I think a description of the underground tunnel would have been more fitting and atmospheric than the oft described morgue, but great read, as usual.

Yet another fabulous book in this wonderful series
[...]I have been anxiously awaiting its arrival. I have read it in one day just now finishing on a Saturday before an evening event. The characters are as engaging as ever and it is again an outstanding murder investigation. She weaves in the stories of the various investigators and their families so that you feel you are alongside them. The locations may well be my favourite part. I do indeed look forward to making a trip to Northumberland and visiting these I defeating settings. And now she has left us a cliffhanger. Please put out the next volume soon!
