Guarded King is the third book in the Empty Kingdom series and it is a standalone in the series.I really was looking forward to reading this story because Roman was the King brother I thought was the most intriguing from the beginning of the series and I love a good office romance.And it is a very good office romance. The author’s writing is flawless as usual, she brings her characters to life and always brings something different, something unique in her stories.I can’t wait to discover where she’ll be going next, but I’ll be right here, following her.

Could not put it down.The characters had a lot of depth, you could feel the tension, the chemistry, the love blossom between the two of them.Roman is a top notch CEO alpha male, handsome and with a lot presence. He has issues he needs to deal with and à company to run; it must come first due to the high stakes at play and the scrutiny they have to deal with.. Then he meets Chloe, and his world is turned upside down…It is the same for Chloe, who is a young, beautiful and talented woman, who needs a stable job to take care of her dad. I fell for her, because taking care of a parent can be challenging. But then she meets her new boss, and the physical attraction she feels for him is very intense.He fights it, she fights it, they both fight it, do thier best to remain professional but you can see them struggling, and the facade crumble. I loved that about this book; the buildup was incredible and very well done. They dont just fall into bed the same day, it takes time, and feelings that cannot be concealed. And it’s an enjoyable ride.If you are into office romance, I highly recommend this book.

I waited for this!
[...]I stumled on to the first book, enjoyed it, then read the next one, and was thrilled. I was excited to read the 3rd. But there was a wait! When the date finally came, I nearly took off work to just read all day. That’s how sure I was that it would be worth it. Dalgleish did not disappoint! Oh my word! This was a beautiful love story with just enough spice. Truly worth the wait!

[...]This book was such an amazing end to this King series. I couldn’t put this book down, because it had just so much amazing stuff in it! The story of Roman and Chloe is so beautiful. We have this amazing slow burn, built-up tension everywhere, and hoping that they get together at every turn of the pages.The development of both characters is so beautifully written and so beautifully wonderful to read. I felt bad for Roman, his trauma definitely runs deep from his father, and I hate that he was put through that all of his life, and then was living with those repercussions as an adult. But for him to be able to work through those things, because of Chloe, that was amazing.The steam doesn’t hit until 57% but it is SO worth the wait! Ah! And it only gets better from there until the end.There is OWD, but not too much, and a sort of third act breakup, but it does end in a HEA!

[...]What a beautiful conclusion to the series. I was skeptical and intrigued by Roman but “the last domino falls the hardest”. I didn’t understand Roman in the beginning of the series, he seemed cold, hard, calculating. To understand the reasons behind his cold surface now was heartbreaking. Chloe is just what he needs, and his love for her shines strong and bright. What an absolutely beautiful end of this series. I can “hand-on-my-heart” say this is my absolute favorite series and will be revising it often!!! Wonderful work, author! Thank you for this grand finale of an amazing series!!!

Roman King is broody, angry, possessive, and the sexiest man. Nobody prepared him for Chloe. Chloe maybe a younger character, and age gap is not my thing, but L.M. wrote Chloe perfectly. She’s not spoiled. She has a strong head on her shoulders and is not intimidated by Roman. She is his perfect match. I love the story development, Roman’s growth and of course the spice 🌶️! Excellent Billionaire Romance read 😍
