What’s better than a revenge date?A revenge husband.
Pro quarterback Ryan Ralston has always known two things. First, he’s desperately in love with his best friend Emme Ahlborg. Second–and most importantly–he still has no idea how to tell her.
The marriage pact they made in their senior yearbook was the closest he ever came. Years passed and Emme forgot about their promise. Ryan never did, especially not on his thirtieth birthday.
Emme can’t catch a break. Always unlucky in love, her cheating ex is a groomsman in her best friend’s wedding—and there’s no way she’s showing up alone.
Ryan offers her the one thing better than a wedding date: a revenge husband. And he’s not just any fake husband but the NFL’s brightest star…and in need of serious reputation rehab.
Playing the part of the happy couple comes easy and soon enough, the lines between real and fake blur. They disappear altogether when there’s just one bed.
All Ryan has to do is save Emme from her ex, find her step-sister an internship, and get his wife to fall in love with him—or fumble the one thing he’s ever wanted: her heart.

I love a story where the MC is both caring and determined. Ryan was all that and more. Lucky Emme.

They say you should marry your best friend… But this will be a fake marriage, between two best friends, something they’ll both get something out of. Ryan will get a clean image and Emme will get back at her cheating ex. There’s a lot to navigate when you’re fake engaged to your best friend of 15 years, someone you’ve loved in a lot of different ways and for a long time. Turns out that they have a LOT of fun pretending they’re a couple. Maybe being together for real might actually make perfect sense…

In A RushBy Kate CanterbaryRun do not walk to your favorite book vendor and get this book! You will want to savour reading this story, you will enjoy every minute with them, the banter, the easy familiarity, the fact that they were very close friends in high school and the fact they survived those years because they had each other!Emme (Emmeline) Ahlborg and Ryan Ralston will have no trouble making you fall love with both of them. Emme is coming down from ending a terrible relationship and Ryan, well Ryan has a plan…he’s an NFL quarterback so there is always a game plan (you’ll find out)!!!I have been a fan of this author since, wow…..a long time and I can tell you that she has never let me down! Her quick witt comes through with each character she writes. Her main characters worm their way into your heart and you won’t ever forget about them. Her secondary characters are the givers of some of the best comic relief I have read. This author has a way of making you crawl into each word, page and chapter, because you feel like you are there, at the lunches, the parties, the break-ups and so much more!I am definetly team Emme and Ryan and I have to say this, four weeks into 2025 and I just put down a book that I know I will not stop talking about all year long.Remember what I said at the beginning? Have you one-clicked already….don’t let Emme, Ryan and me down…..grab it today! This is a five star read…and not Litte Stars either.

I laughed, cried, and everything in between.I love being able to visit with old characters and see what is happening in their lives ❤️ I wish that Friendship, RI was real, I would visit in a heartbeat!Getting a new Kate Canterbary book feels like Christmas morning!I cannot wait to see who the next book is about! I have to admit, getting to know Audrey more in this book has me more intrigued about her 🤩I’m excited beyond words to listen to the audiobook when it releases 🎧

“Rush” to read this book!!
[...]This is the first Kate Canterbury book I’ve read in a while. Emme and Ryan are amazingly perfect for for each other. The story moved along quickly without a lot of angst or unnecessary drama. The steam was so well done and HOT!!!My favorite part and there were many to choose from, But for me it was Ryan and the meaning of his tattoos. Can’t wait to read the rest in this series. I hope we get to see Jamie, Audrey, and Ruthie find their happily ever after too. Oh and a look at Jakobi and Ines would just icing on the cake

Back to Friendship, RI
[...]Not gonna lie, I wish more of this book was back in our beloved Friendship, RI (from In a Jam) instead of Boston, but I still enjoyed it. I’m honestly not a fan of the fake marriage trope. That, and the miscommunication in this book were annoying plot lines, but the chemistry between the characters, all of the background characters, and the elaborate life of football player Ryan made up for it. Looking forward to more books in this series.

In a Rush is all good vibes
[...]These are the vibes In a Rush is bringing to the function (the function being wherever you read:In a Rush leads with big marriage of convenience vibes that mask a strong “it’s always been you” core. Ryan has no subtlety when it comes to his love for Emme. In fact the only person who doesn’t know he is in love with her is Emme. But Ryan is great about not pushing Emme past her boundaries and knows her well enough to know when to let her come to him.The “it’s always been you” vibe doesn’t make me swoon nearly as much as the “I’ll take care of that” vibe, which Ryan is also bringing in spades to this party. He’s not just good arm candy, he has staff and he is willing to use them to make Emme’s life easier.Emme is the heart of the vibes, and that heart brings care and loyalty. She will face her awful ex so the wedding goes as planned, and she will marry her friend so he can get his business deal. She’s also brings the sparkle, and the unruly friend group of elementary school teachers (battle-hardened warriors, every one). She can snap out football stats, pout like a champion (who doesn’t love yelling at movies?), down a bowl of clementines, and make a dramatic exit at a party. Are we all hoping to see more of Audrey and Jaime’s vibes in future books? Yes! Please. This was a lovely world to sink into for a few hours.

the best romantic plot I’ve read in a long time, if ever!
[...]I loved every second of this book. The romance, the charm, the swooning – all of it was a 10/10. But Kate Canterbury is unlike many romance authors I’ve read. She is a damn good author. I think I’d read whatever genre she tried. In A Rush is now in my top five – MY TOP FIVE! Do yourself a favor and prepare to smile, kick your feet, and swoon. Ryan and Emme are everything. Ryan is the best, the best, male main character I’ve read in a long time, if ever. My heart. Ugh. Go read it!

TOUCHDOWN! This book is a win in my library!
[...]I loved the Mult POV, that the MFC was not “perfect” – she was quirky, and a little dark and a lot of fun. I loved the supporting chara ters also. They had bones, they helped hold up the story well. Most of all, I loved the rightness of the book. It took me on a great ride that ended too quickly, but it did leave me feeling satisfied.Thank you!

Everything to love!
[...]Another winner from this author! A heartwarming story about 2 long time friends finally making their way to each other. It is always wonderful to visit with characters from earlier stories. Highly recommended!

A Fake Marriage that is oh so real! Loved it!
[...]“I don’t know who I am without you, and I don’t want to find out.”The way I absolutely savored this friends to lovers romance! Our hero Ryan was absolutely goneeee for our girl Emme and he had me kicking my feet with that swoony feeling! I love when the hero has been secretly smitten for his girl for years, and Ryan Ralston was enamored with Emme Ahlborg ever since high school and they entered that fated marriage pact at graduation. And while he was an epic grump, he was the biggest softy for Emme and I loved watching him breakdown her walls to taking his marriage proposal seriously and becoming something real. All the flirting had me smiling and just laughing to myself as I read about them falling even more in love with each other. And of course their chemistry was off the charts! These two connected in every way and created some hot moments that is for sure. I loved the way Emme rambled when she got nervous, it’s such a relatable trait and it’s the after thought of “why did I do that” that had me laughing. This beautiful friendship that they had built over the years gave this foundation to their romance that was so believable and made me think they could truly weather all the curveballs life would throw at them. The friendship group that supports them through it all is so special in this book and I loved that we got a glimpse of a few favorites from In a Jam! Overall I really enjoyed this story!
